Mystery Eyes, June 28th - 2009 THE GAME...

I thought it would be fun to play a game of sorts with anyone looking at my posts. During the week I am going to post MYSTERY EYES with no titles. I will date them for reference. I invite your comments. I would love to see your comments. What do they say, what is she thinking, how do you feel when you look into her eyes, what does it make you think about? What would you call the painting. More than one comment allowed. Any comments will be fun. Whoever guesses right, gets 20% off their next "Melanie Rogers" original. Now, there is no way to guess wrong when it comes to what a painting says. I always wonder if I should NOT tell my stories that go with my faces. I sometimes change them after they have expressed one thing for me. I look again, and it's a whole new story. I release them, always, to speak for themselves. As I paint them, they start to look back at me. I think that is why I have kept painting my faces, and wondering, who are these women? You tell me. At the end of the week I will unveil their complete faces. The scanner put the stripes on her. I am working on producing proper scans. All things are a work in progress, are they not?

"Curiosity" one of my Butterfly Ladies

No one will want to pirate this picture, that much is for sure. I am studying everything at once. How not to bow out pictures on the list. "Curiosity" was framed, and not very nicely at all. Pertaining to previous post.

Did Curiostiy kill a cat?

Just kidding. This is not the next mystery eyes painting. That's my cat inspecting his new rival, the camera. Not sure what this says for my future in photography. But, hey, I won most improved bowler when I was ten. Got a big trophy and everything. Of course, when the first time everyone watches you get up to the lane and you throw the ball backwards....I think it left an impression on everybody. After a while I actually started knocking down pens. So I may be taking some striking photographs soon.

Watercolor fun - Zoom in on "Pollen"

I'm going to give you a closer look at my paintings, the ones that look back. Tell me what you see, I'd love to hear what they bring to your mind, or heart...

Watercolor "Everyday is a Gift"

This one, for me, represented new growth and a new way of seeing things. The green hair is symbolic. She was at first part of my story in watercolor of the emotional stages of the battle with cancer. On June 4th I posted how I went into the tunnel of cancer, "Dying to Live". This one is how God transformed me and brought me out of that tunnel. I didn't see just a light at the end of the tunnel, I saw color. I've released her from her association with that series. She speaks something new everytime I look at her. After all, her name IS "Everyday is a Gift". Everyday is a new gift with a new message and growth all it's own.

"Puzzle Four" a classic watercolor nude

The way her arms and legs overlap creates a kind of puzzle. You might have to study it for a moment to understand her position. It also suggests the number 4. That is how she came to be called "Puzzle Four"...

This is a card made from the watercolor I named "Peaches". I enjoy using special frames to offer some of my prints and cards, all set and ready for your walls...I sold several small framed pieces during the art walk.
